Socially involved

Frankly speaking, I dislike drinking beers so naturally I don't join those who love to drink.

My husband's friends are all drinkers. They would gather together after work and have their fun time drinking. Of course, I don't comment on their drinking. I just get away from them and I would prefer to spend my time with my children.

I feel that I am not socially involved when drinking beers is concerned.

Loves to drink

I only drank DOM during my confinement and I don't drink any other beers. I had tasted Shandy and I disliked the taste.

I tried Calsberg and I didn't like it too. I just dislike the smell and the taste of it.

But I don't mind red wine even though I don't drink much.

Personally, I don't think it's healthy to drink too much beers but according to drinkers, beers has a lot of benefits too.

Is that really so?

Music

Should we as parents send our kids to music classes?

Personally, I would love to send all my kids to music classes as I myself love music. Even though I don't play any instrument well, I would love my kids to play any instrument that they like.

First, I bought a keyboard, then an organ followed by a guitar, a violin, a flute and even a saxophone.

My kids play the instruments and I am indeed proud of them..

Learning through Vocabulary

I believe in learning vocabulary words. When I was in Secondary School, I loved to read vocabulary words and find out their meanings.

When I decided to become a teacher, I wanted to be an English teacher. I taught students in the Primary School. I simply loved vocabulary. I would find pictures or even drew pictures related to the vocabulary words.

When I decided to get my degree in TESL, I was fascinated with the proposal of my thesis. I did a research on Vocabulary and finally got the idea to write on it.

I believe in teaching students vocabulary and building up their word power. 

Learning English is great!

Love our parents

As a parent myself, I know I must love my mum. When I was young, I used to help my mum like taking care of my little brothers and sisters. I hardly had any scoldings from her. But she never said 'I love you' before. But deep inside I know she loves me. 

She has helped me in my house chores and child minding for many years. To me, she is the best. I appreciate what she has done for me.

Tomorrow she is coming to my place. When she is around my burden is lessen. She is supposed to relax but she never fails to upkeep my house.

Whose fault, parents or teachers?

When our kids misbehave in school, do we blame ourselves as parents or blame the teachers for not taking care of our kids?

Personally, I think it could be parents' fault should our kids misbehave. May be we didn't teach our kids about proper manners and thus they misbehave.

But it could be the teachers' fault too. When our kids are sent to school, they are under the school's care. Teachers should make sure that the students behave themselves by disciplining them. Rules and regulation should be carried out so that students don't misbehave. Otherwise, they would face the consequences..

Dialects

How many dialects can you speak? As for me, I can only speak Cantonese and Hokkien.

Speaking different dialects could be very useful especially when you are in the business line. Like in my case, I wish I could speak Hakka. Some of my customers are Hakka and I find it very difficult to communicate with them.

Well, my PIL were Hakka but they passed away many years ago. Even though my husband is so well-versed in Hakka, I never learn how to speak it..

Public Toilet

How do you use the public toilet? Would you prefer the sitting type or the squatting type?

Personally, I would prefer the squatting type as it is more hygienic. Sitting type is used by so many people and it is usually not clean. But I wouldn't mind using the sitting type in a hotel room.

My house has only sitting type but my husband's shop has the squatting type. The other day, my husband got angry as a user had thrown a tissue plastic into the toilet bowl. Therefore, I had to write a notice and put it on the wall of the toilet. 

'Please DO NOT throw any rubbish into the toilet bowl. (plastic/pad)

Love

Love is important in a family.

But, do we say 'I love you' to our spouse and kids?

Personally, I hardly say 'I love you'. But I show my love through other ways.

I would say kind words or even offer my best advice/help in whichever way my family needs.

Credit cards

Is credit card really necessary? Majority of people would answer a resounding YES!

As for me, I don't think it is really necessary unless you really need to buy stuff in big amount. I only use it to pay for the hotel and when I order my Fitline supplement.

Besides, I usually bring along my credit card when I go traveling. You never know you might need to buy something but you don't have the cash right away.

Anyway, I don't believe in using my credit card to pay for a mere RM100 or so. I prefer to pay in cash.

Science in English

If you ask me, I would definitely prefer Science in English than in Bahasa Malaysia. I myself studied Science in English and when my kids study Science in English, I could help them as I am well-versed in English than in Bahasa Malaysia.

When I was teaching in school, I offered to teach Science in English. I had never taught Science before as I was an English teacher. I taught Form One Science for just one term as the school had not enough Science teacher at that time.

It was interesting and fun. I used the laptop and the projector to teach them the theories. During practical, it was more interesting as I loved to see my students participating in mini projects.

How I wish the ministry could maintain the teaching of Science in English but too bad, it has reverted to BM..

Healthy Intestine

Many people still don't know that the bad condition of one's intestine is the main cause of diseases in oneself. So it's very important that we take care of our intestine.

First of all, we must make sure that we take good food and not just simply any food. Secondly we must also make sure that we have bowel movement everyday. If one is constipated, make sure the condition is quickly ovecome. Otherwise, toxin would accumulate and it flows into our bloodstream That's when the symptoms of diseases start to appear.

One should eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. But in my case, I have to depend on my supplement, the Basics. I would try to consume as much vegetables and fruits myself!

Money

This person said, 'I am greedy of money.'

My response, 'What? Greedy? Then I should be afraid of you.'

I simply explained to him that even though he loves money, he shouldn't say it out bluntly. Just say that we need money so that's why we need to work.

I even told him not to be so calculative with his parents and siblings. Think of how much one's parents had spent when bringing us up. I would say I owe my mum a million than she owes me. I don't mind spending money on my mum and my family.

Money is great! Without money we couldn't do much. So the only way is to earn it and not steal it!

To be pregnant before or after marriage

My staff asked me this question. To be pregnant before or after marriage.

A very good question. Personally, I wouldn't agree to being pregnant before marriage. If I were to get pregnant before I got married, guess my mum would kill me.

Same here..if my daughters were to get pregnant before marriage, I would kill them. Would I? Maybe my husband would.

Nowadays, youngsters got the chance to stay together even before they got married. Anything could have happened. If no precautions are taken, then the couple would face the music..

What would those couple do when things go wrong? Abort the baby or get married?

I have heard a lot of true stories. Many got married because of the pregnancy. What more when they were still young..

There were cases that early marriage because of unplanned pregnancy could lead to divorces..

Experience or the degree

When you need to employ someone to help you in your business, would you employ someone with experience or someone with a degree?

In my opinion, experience is much better as he/she would be more dependable to do the work. But, someone without experience but has a degree should be given a chance to prove himself/herself capable of handling the work. Otherwise, when is he/she going to get the experience?

Like in my case. I have no experience in business but I was given the chance. Now I guess I am quite experienced..through work practice..

Trust

Do you trust your spouse when he or she has to go somewhere with his or her friends?

Personally, I don't like to follow my husband to places where he usually meets his friends. I hate places that are filled with noise and cigarette smoke. I don't understand why people could stand the noise. Those days, when I followed my husband, I had to speak loudly and closely to one's ear. In return, that person had to speak to me that way too. I hated that. 

I prefer to stay at home. My sister-in-law once asked me, 'Can you trust your husband?'

Well, I couldn't be bothered. I do trust him. I trust him to behave but it's hard to say. Anything could happen when I'm not around, right?

Is tuition necessary?

I personally don't like tuition. I prefer to study on my own or in groups. When I was preparing for my Form 3 examination, we formed a group of 6 and studied together. 

When I have kids of my own, I would love to send them for tuition. But funny, they dislike tuition too. They also prefer to study on their own. They managed to do well too.

I am so grateful that I don't need to worry. Really, I was not worried at all when they sat for their examinations.

So I feel that tuition is not really necessary if your kids are capable to study on their own..

Close Relationship

What do you do to ensure close relationship among your family members?

In my opinion, to cultivate good relationship among family members, one should encourage the others to keep in touch with each other. Be it a phone call, text messaging, e-mail, facebook or even snail mail.

No matter how busy we are with our own lives, we should pause once in a while and think of the others. Simply give them a call and say 'hello'. Don't just call because you need to call. Just call because you want to call. That makes a lot of difference in one's relationship.

Relaxing

To relax or not to relax..

Well, I could work all day but I know when to relax. I feel that one should be able to relax oneself as too much work and no play makes one a dull person.

Furthermore, one might get irritated easily too. Why put pressure on oneself? Just be cool and relax when you need to..
